Family Stori is operated by Berry App Labs (berryapplabs.com). This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we store it, and your rights as a user.

1. What Data We Collect

When you use Family Stori, we may collect the following information:

• Account information: name, display name, birth year, language preference, and email address
• Content you create: text answers to questions, photos, videos, and custom questions
• Family circle data: email addresses of circle members you invite
• Quiz and engagement data: quiz scores, questions answered, streaks
• Device information: device tokens for push notifications
• Analytics events: app usage data such as screens viewed, features used, and session duration

2. Why We Collect It

We use your data to:

• Deliver personalized questions based on your storyteller profile (age, language, cultural region)
• Send weekly digest emails to your family circle with new answers
• Generate quizzes from your answers so your family can play together
• Enable your family circle to view and interact with your stories
• Send push notifications for new questions and family activity
• Improve the product through anonymous, aggregated usage analytics

3. How We Store Your Data

• Database: Supabase (hosted in the United States)
• Encryption in transit: all data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+)
• Encryption at rest: all stored data is encrypted at rest
• Media files: photos and videos are stored in encrypted cloud storage

4. Who Can See Your Data

Your stories, photos, and videos are visible only to family circle members you have personally invited. We never sell your data. We never share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

The following service providers process data on our behalf, under strict data processing agreements:

• Stripe — payment processing (card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never touch our servers)
• Resend — transactional email delivery (weekly digests, circle invitations, account notifications)
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — AI-powered translation and question personalisation. Your content is processed for these features only and is not used to train AI models.

5. Data Retention

• Active subscription: your data is stored and accessible for the duration of your subscription
• After subscription ends: you have a 12-month grace period to download all your data
• After 13 months: all data is permanently deleted from our systems

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights:

• Right to access: request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Right to export: download all your stories, photos, videos, and profile data
• Right to delete: request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data
• Right to correct: update or correct any inaccurate personal information

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information.

We do not sell personal information. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to do so.

8. Children's Privacy

Family Stori is not designed for children under 13 years of age. Storytellers must be 13 or older to create an account. The planned "Kids Wrap-Up" feature (where younger family members can listen to stories) will be managed entirely by parents or guardians.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that data promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@familystori.com.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies only:

• Session cookies to keep you logged in
• Login state cookies to remember your authentication

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies. We do not participate in any advertising networks.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you by email before the changes take effect. Minor clarifications or formatting changes may be made without notice.
